Lentigo maligna expands as a flat patch for many years, sometime decades.
Lentigo maligna often presents as a changing pigmented lesion. Since lentigo malignas do not spread anywhere else in the body, a 100% survival rate is achieved once it is excised.
The treatment of choice for lentigo maligna is surgical excision - a wide local excision, preventing the development of an invasive component of the lesion. This is then followed by regular skin surveillance by Dr Banky.
