Article on Herald Sun -- Popular comedian and broadcaster Dave Hughes has undergone surgery to have skin cancers removed from his arm and shoulder. "I got my skin checked and had a couple of cancers cut out. There were parts that had to be sliced and diced, but I’m all good," Hughes said. "If you get skin cancers cut out early, it doesn’t lead to other things." It is the second procedure for Hughes, who had a skin cancer excised from his back in 2016. His latest skin cancers were removed by dermatologist, Dr Jeremy Banky, at Masada Private Hospital on Monday. Hughes, a Fox FM and Channel 10 star, also had treatment for his “sun-damaged facial skin” to help prevent skin cancers from developing on his face. "My skin is not meant for this climate I always joke I should be in Ireland picking potatoes," Hughes said. "My wife, (Holly) is always is banging on to me about getting my skin checked. She wants to keep me alive, which is nice." Hughes urged people to get their skin checked ahead of summer. "There’s no time to hold back on getting checked because of COVID-19," he said. "Doctors are waiting to check you now." Dr Banky added: "It is important people do not ignore their medical conditions during the current pandemic. Skin cancer can be fatal if it’s not identified and treated.
