It equally affects both males and females. Both genetics and environmental factors play a
role in psoriasis. Smoking and alcohol can both worsen existing skin psoriasis.
Psoriasis can also affect the joints (typically the hands and spine) and nails.
There are a number of treatments available for psoriasis including topical creams and
ointments, ultra-violet light, oral medications, injections and sometimes hospitalisation.
